On TodaysBestTools.com we like to present useful tools. This post will introduce you to three tools, that you can use to manage your RSS feed subscriptions. One of the most efficient ways to access site data is to use RSS feeds. The problem with RSS is that you access more data quicker and you still spend a lot of time sorting and reading the data that you collect. Accessing RSS enables you to gather more information, but it still takes a long time to find the data that you need, this is a classic case of information overload. Using these three tools you can quickly gather, combine, and filter data to find data that matters most.
Gathering RSS feeds
There are a variety of ways to gather and store RSS feeds. You can use a variety of aggregators like Google reader or Netvibes to subscribe to data. My favorite is a simple light weight aggregator called Sage-Too, an add on for the Firefox browser. Sage-Too is good for gathering RSS feeds and you can also quickly read RSS feeds. You can refresh your feeds and filter your list for the feeds with updated content. I normally don't read feeds using RSS, I use it primarily for gathering feeds to be exported at a later time.

Exporting RSS Feeds
Sage-Too allows you to quickly export your feed list as an OPML file. You don't have to know what OPML is other than a document that is used for transferring large amounts of data. You simply export the file and save it to your computer. Many other aggregators allow you to export feeds as well. If you have 5 different aggregators it may be nice to condense your list into one list so that you can sort the data. This is accomplished by using the next tool.
Condensing RSS Exported Lists
There is a great tool for condensing your lists into one feed called FeedRinse. When you set up your FeedRinse account you have the option of importing your previously imported list. After you upload one list simply click back and upload another, you can keep doing this until all of your RSS lists are included within FeedRinse.

All of your lists will be viewable, you can take the time and scroll the list and eliminate duplicate feeds to decrease your file size. Once you are happy with the list you can give your list a name and export your condensed feed which is ready for importing to a variety of different applications.
Sorting Your Data Based on PageRank
AideRSSis a free online tool that allows you to sort your RSS feeds according to a proprietary ranking structure. The feeds are evaluated using a variety of factors including relevance and reaction of readers. After importing your feed to RSS you receive filtered lists that rank the data for you to consume. You can again export the newly ranked feed for quick viewing in aggregators like Sage-Too and Newsgator.

There are a variety of other tools that you can use to manage large lists of data. You may want to consider utilizing a variety methods so that you can access the right data at the right time according to your needs. How do you manage your RSS?
